Six Sigma hosts NCL I cross country teams

Middletown girls take third, boys fourth on 3.3-mile course

LOWER LAKE >> Fort Bragg’s boys edged Willits in a tight battle Wednesday during North Central League I cross country action at the 3.3-mile Six Sigma Ranch and Winery course near Lower Lake.

Of the complete teams in the field, Fort Bragg won by a single point against Willits, 59-60, while St. Helena was third with 69, Middletown fourth with 79 and Lower Lake fifth with 168.

In girls action, St. Helena won with 51 points followed by Kelseyville with 85 and Middletown with 91. There were no other complete teams (at least five runners).

Boys

Cole Lane of Willits dominated the boys race, finishing first in 18 minutes, 52 seconds, nearly a full minute ahead of Fort Bragg’s Johann Garcia (19:51). Third place went to Middletown’s Landon Pisaro (20:07), with Fort Bragg’s Walker Aycock (20:23) and St. Helena’s Charlie Waton (20:58) rounding out the top five.

Finishing in the top 10 were Cloverdale’s Gael Lopez, sixth in 21:05; St. Helena’s Oly Dodd, seventh in 21:08; Middletown’s Ren Ueno, eighth in 21:26; Middletown’s Isael Haro, ninth in 21:32; and Willits’ Darli Suarez, 10th in 22:20.

Lower Lake’s Emiliano Rivera placed 16th in 23:03 while Kelseyville’s Maverick Watson (23:10) and Jacob Parker (23:16) finished 18th and 19th, respectively.

Forty-four runners competed.

Girls

St. Helena’s Corinna Schlatter won by almost a four-minute margin in the girls race, crossing the finish line in 21:35. A battle for second place went to Cloverdale’s Malia McGrath (25:34), who edged out Fort Bragg’s Emily Olvera (25:43).

Liz Silva (26:06) of Cloverdale and Aylin Aguilar (27:29) of Kelseyville rounded out the top five.

Middletown’s Lupita Cabrera (28:58) placed seventh and teammate Alivia Stark (29:49) came in ninth.

Cristal Castro Luna of Lower Lake came in 12th in 31:12. Placing 18th through 21st in the 31-runner field were Kelseyville’s Aubrey Wiser (33:52), Lorena Garcia (35:22) and Valeria Muniz (36:10), and Middletown’s Maddison Lighter (36:26).

Schedule

NCL I schools meet again next Wednesday in Willits.
