Junior scores 20 points, pulls down 16 rebounds in 57-18 victory

MIRANDA >> Faith McIntire’s 20 points and 16 rebounds powered the Clear Lake High School varsity girls basketball team in a 57-18 non-league win over the South Fork Cubs on Wednesday night in Miranda.
McIntire also had four steals for the Cardinals (2-2), who open play in the Calistoga Tournament on Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. first-round game against Grace Christian.
Atiana Patino added nine points, four steals and four assists while Karsyn Greer had nine points, all on 3-pointers, and four steals. Other contributors were Jazmin Wiebusch with six points and Aliyah Valadez with five points and six rebounds. Kam Cresto also pulled down seven rebounds.
The Cardinals used a 24-5 second quarter to open up a 31-7 halftime lead.
“The girls hustled the best they have this year,” Clear Lake head coach Larry Richardson said. “We had fewer errors and worked as a team.”
There was no junior varsity game.
