LOWER LAKE >> Bouncing back from a loss to Westshore a week earlier, the Lower Lake Trojans dominated the Fort Bragg Cubs 34-0 during Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football league varsity action Saturday at Gordon Sadler Field in Lower Lake.

A blocked punt set up Lower Lake’s first points as Braylen Fanucchi scored on a 33-yard run for a 6-0 lead.

Lower Lake (5-1) pushed its halftime lead to 18-0 after second-quarter touchdowns by Adriyan Diaz, one on a 43-yard run and the other on a 53-yard reception.

The Trojans continued to pad their advantage in the second half when Fanucchi scored on a 30-yard run, which along with the conversion kick made it 26-0. Wyatt Chalecki’s 48-yard run and another conversion kick pushed the Lower Lake lead to 34-0, at which point the league’s mercy rule went into effect.

“Our players did really well on both sides of the ball tonight,” Lower Lake head coach Mark Garner said. “They worked really hard in practice this week and it translated to the game field. It was a great team win.”

Gavin Cheek and Djoser Williams each had four tackles for the Trojans. Cameryn Ray had a sack.

Fort Bragg fell to 0-5-1.

Lower Lake’s youth teams are home Saturday to play Napa. Pee wee action kicks off at 3:30 p.m. followed by the JV (5:30 p.m.) and varsity (7:30 p.m.) games.
