SANTA ROSA >> Kat Wheelan scored twice in the first half as the Kelseyville High School girls soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 4-0 victory over Roseland Collegiate Prep in non-league action at Santa Rosa.
Kelseyville (8-1) opened the season with seven straight wins before falling 2-0 to Ferndale on Saturday in the championship game of the annual Tyler Duncan Memorial Tournament at Upper Lake. The Knights bounced right back against RCP, grabbing a 3-0 halftime lead.
Besides Wheelan’s two goals, Ximena Herren scored. Regina Rico assisted on Wheelan’s second goal.
A throw-in from Evilyn Valdovinos to Herren set up a Vanessa Reyes goal 15 minutes into the second half for a 4-0 lead.
“With strong play across the field, the Lady Knights were able to rotate in all players, showing the depth and unity of the team,” Kelseyville head coach Irma Rodriguez said. “This win was truly a team effort, and every game continues to make us proud of these girls no matter the outcome.”
