Undefeated Westshore pee wee football team dominates on offense, defense

CLOVERDALE >> Vincent Rave rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns while also returning a punt 25 yards for a third score as the Westshore pee wee squad beat Cloverdale 33-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday in Cloverdale.
Westshore (3-0) also received a touchdown and an extra point from Elius Mendoza, a touchdown from Obie Knight on a 10-yard run, and extra points from Noah Freeman and Josh King.
King went 3-for-5 passing, Freeman with all three receptions for 32 yards. King also rushed for 65 yards.
“Our line has been doing a great job this year playing aggressive and opening holes for our backs,” said Westshore head coach Vince Rave, who said his team is firing on all cylinders early in the season.
“We’re playing great all-around football,” Rave said.
On defense, Brayden Walsh intercepted a pass while Rave had four solo tackles and four assists. King and Knight each had four total tackles.
“Our whole defense has been playing lights-out football,” Rave said of the 16 total yards allowed by the Cardinals.
“I’m super proud of this whole team and the way they’re playing for each other,” Rave added.
Westshore returns home this Saturday to play Willits (2-1) at 3:30 p.m. Junior varsity action follows at 5:30 with the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
