St. Helena, Cloverdale dominate selections on All-North Central League I softball squad

LAKE COUNTY >> Two juniors, Atiana Patino of Clear Lake High School and Ashlyn Wurm of Kelseyville High School, have been named to the 2025 All-North Central League I softball first team as selected by the league’s coaches.
Patino and Wurm are the only Lake County players appearing on this year’s first team, one dominated by the St. Helena Saints (14-0), three-time league champions, and runner-up Cloverdale Eagles (12-2).
Clear Lake and Kelseyville tied for third place in the league standings at 7-7, each advancing to the North Coast Section playoffs – Clear Lake to the quarterfinals in Division 5 and Kelseyville to the semifinals in Division 6. Both went 1-1 in postseason play.
Patino pitched nearly every game for the Cardinals while Wurm split time between pitcher and shortstop for the Knights. Patino also led Clear Lake with a .442 batting average, including a team-best 23 hits and two triples. She was among team leaders in RBIs (second with 16) and runs scored (second with 20). Likewise, Wurm was a force at the plate for the Knights. She led the team in batting average (.431), hits (28), runs (20), doubles (eight), triples (four), home runs (two) and was second in RBIs with 15.
Co-MVPs
St. Helena seniors Tahlia Smith and Emily Glakeler shared the league’s most valuable player award after leading St. Helena to a third straight league championship. Along with going undefeated in league play, the Saints finished 20-5 overall.
First team
Joining Clear Lake’s Patino and Kelseyville’s Wurm on the All-League first team were sophomores Ada Blanton and Lillian Grimes and juniors Ellie Carmichael and Olive Filippini of St. Helena. From Cloverdale, freshman Camryn Bird and seniors Charlotte Burchett and Camryn Donahoo were honored.
Second team
Five of the nine players named to the All-League second team were Lake County players. They were freshman Jordyn Wurm and junior Morgan Rogers of Kelseyville, junior Karsyn Greer of Clear Lake, Upper Lake junior Aimee Schaefers and Lower Lake senior Brialyn Anderson.
Other second-team selections were senior Alexis Lund of St. Helena, sophomore Emmersyn Reasoner and sophomore Bella Sanchez of Cloverdale, and senior Andrea Escobedo of Fort Bragg.
Honorable mentions
Lake County players earned seven honorable mentions. They were freshman Cali Albaum and junior Faith McIntire of Clear Lake, sophomore Leanna Ortega and junior Jamiya Lee-Ayers of Lower Lake, sophomore Kylee Denham and junior Matisyn Mateer of Kelseyville, and junior Sarah Fetters of Middletown.
Also receiving honorable mentions were sophomore Ronni Hatcher and senior Keiko Saito of Cloverdale, and senior Sierra Thompson of Fort Bragg.
All-County team
Lake County Sports will release its 2025 All-County team in the near future. Awards for MVP, first team and coach of the year are sponsored by the Brick Tavern of Kelseyville.
