SANTA ROSA >> The Coastal Mountain Conference South golf season is in the books after the five competing teams, including Middletown and Kelseyville, played the final 18 holes of the 36-hole CMC Championships on Monday afternoon at the par-72 Valley of the Moon Golf Club in Santa Rosa.

St. Helena, the CMC South champion, and Sonoma Academy tied for the low round, with Sonoma Academy taking the win because of the fifth-man tiebreaker. The low round of the day belonged to Middletown’s Bodhi Moore, who fired a 2-over-par 74 that included five birdies. Moore carded the low round in all seven CMC South matches this season and will advance to the North Coast Section Division 2 qualifier next Monday at Foxtail North in Rohnert Park.

Moore was named to the All-Conference first team following play and also received the John Berry Award, which goes to the golfer who best exemplifies the spirit of the longtime and much-loved Kelseyville High School coach who died last year after serving as the Knights’ head coach for almost 40 years.

During Monday’s play at Valley of the Moon, Sonoma Academy and St. Helena both finished with 359, the total of each team’s four lowest scorers. Middletown was next at 381, Kelseyville had 402 and Technology 405.

Middletown’s Moore was the only golfer to shoot in the 70s. Jack Robinson (83) of St. Helena, Lucca Modica (86) and Eli Goldberg (88) of Sonoma Academy and Burleigh Weeman of (St. Helena) had the next lowest rounds. Ethan Gambill of Kelseyville and David Sisson of Middletown carded rounds of 97 while Technology’s Dilyan Lopez finished with 90.

St. Helena ran away with the CMC South race this season, finishing with a 26-2 record. Sonoma Academy (16-12) and Middletown (14-14) placed second and third, respectively.

Along with the entire St. Helena team, the CMC South sends its five lowest scorers who are not member of the championship team to the sectionals on Monday in Rohnert Park. Those five are determined by their 36-hole totals during the CMC Championships. They are Moore (153) of Middletown, Modica (169), Goldberg (179) and Lucas Vaio (193) of Sonoma Academy, and Lopez of Technology.

Following the conclusion of Monday’s round, the All-CMC South first- and second-teams were announced.

Receiving first-team conference honors were Moore of Middletown, Robinson and Weeman of St. Helena, Modica and Goldberg of Sonoma Academy, and Lopez of Technology.

Second-team honors went to Russell Wilms and Lele Hanna of St. Helena, Egebreth of Technology, Vaio of Sonoma Academy, David Sisson of Middletown and Mason Harmon of Kelseyville.

“Mason was our most consistent golfer this year as a freshman,” Kelseyville head coach Tim Conrad said.
