LAKEPORT >> Amelie Davis hit one home run and just missed another Saturday as the Terrace Middle School softball team beat Cloverdale 7-6 in action at the Softball Jamboree in Lakeport.
The Vikings beat Eagle Peak 10-0 earlier in the day on a combined no-hitter by Sophia Gonzalez and Shayna Burrows.
Terrace trailed Cloverdale 1-0 in the late game when Davis homered on the second pitch of the at-bat, driving the ball above the fence. She also had a single. Rilee Sperber added a triple and a single while winning pitcher Gonzalez and Ava Gamble each doubled and singled.
Gonzalez allowed two earned runs, struck out 11 and walked six.
Terrace trailed 5-1 going to the bottom of the third. The Vikings scored twice in the third and three times in the fourth. What proved to be the winning run scored in the bottom of the fifth when Gamble crossed the plate, a play made possible after Hayden Perez struck out but beat the throw to first base on a wild-pitch strike three.
Mariah Pruitt and Alessandra Zavala also had hits.
Against Eagle Peak, Gonzalez struck out seven and walked none before being relieved by Burrows, who struck out two and walked three.
Davis led the Vikings with two hits and Sperber also had a hit.
