Lake County Sports

LAKE COUNTY >> It was a great season for Middletown and Kelseyville boys and girls basketball in 2024-25, and those teams were amply rewarded on the All-Lake County squad as selected by Lake County Sports.

Middletown’s varsity boys went 24-8, a school record for wins in a single season, earned a share of the North Central League I championship, finished third in the North Coast Section Division 4 playoffs, and reached the NorCal playoffs for the first time in school history. Bodhi Moore, a senior, helped lead the way by scoring 616 points, the second-most points by a Middletown player in a single season.

Middletown’s varsity girls posted a 21-6 mark, tied for the North Central League I championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCS Division 3 playoffs. Mia Hoogendoorn, a four-year varsity veteran, scored a single-season girls school record of 599 points while finishing her career with a school-record 1,562 points, ranking her sixth on Lake County’s all-time career scoring list.

The Kelseyville Knights did plenty on the hardwood as well.

Kelseyville’s varsity girls finished 17-9 overall under first-year head coach Tim Conrad, including a 12-2 league mark that earned them a share of the league title. They reached the postseason and lost a first-round home game to Fortuna in the opening round of the Division 3 playoffs (Fortuna went on to beat Middletown in the quarterfinals).

Kelseyville’s varsity boys just missed out on a second straight NCL I championship, finishing 11-3 in the league standings, one game behind co-champions Middletown and St. Helena. The Knights advanced to the NCS Division 5 playoffs and placed fourth, their only two losses coming to International of San Francisco, which went on to win a state championship, and to Sonoma Valley, which nearly beat International in the NorCal playoffs.

All-County girls

The All-County co-most valuable players are Middletown’s Hoogendoorn, who scored career point No. 1,000 early in the 2024-25 campaign before going on to reach a season-ending total of 1,562, and Kelseyville High School senior Briana Davis, who was the catalyst for many a Kelseyville victory with her airtight play on defense, which included leading the Knights in steals and blocked shots.

First-team All-County honors go to Kelseyville junior guard Ashlyn Wurm, Middletown freshman post Izzi Hoogendoorn, Kelseyville senior guard Cali Schnabl, and Clear Lake junior post Faith McIntire, who should reach 1,000 career points next season.

Named to the second team were junior post Harley Holley and senior guard Jaylee Doris of Middletown, Kelseyville junior post Mati Mateer, Clear Lake senior guard Emily Gersalia, Upper Lake junior post Aimee Schaefers, and Lower Lake senior post Brooke Benson.

Coaches of the Year are Kelseyville’s Conrad and Middletown’s Roxi Holt.
