KELSEYVILLE >> Kelseyville High School’s boys volleyball team tuned up for its North Central League I opener Thursday at Anderson Valley with a non-league 25-21, 26-28, 26-24, 25-14 victory over the Ukiah Wildcats on Tuesday night in Kelseyville.

Moving to outside hitter, Jorge Bernal had a big night for Kelseyville with nine kills and four aces, Also turning in strong efforts were setter Julian Armas with 32 assists, middle blocker Andon Beall with 14 kills and four blocks, outside hitter Jayden Teabo with 13 kills, and libero Otoniel Rivas with 31 digs

“The boys are starting to work together,” Kelseyville head coach Donelle McCallister said. “We had a different lineup from last week. Julian Armas was sick … he played the first set all the way around, but in the second set we took him out of the front row and Jorge Bernal set half of the set. Julian was back in for sets three and four.”

Kelseyville’s front line was efficient as well, recording only 12 errors on 99 swings.

“Otoniel Rivas continues to dominate the back row, receiving 38 of the 76 serves made last night,” McCallister said. “Serving efficiency was much better (only nine errors on 101 serves).”

Kelseyville is 5-9 on the season.
