UKIAH >> Kelseyville High School’s boys volleyball team went the distance Monday with Ukiah, beating the Wildcats 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-8 in a non-league match at Ukiah.
Andon Beall’s 17 kills, three blocks and two aces sparked the Knights.
“Still working on a solid lineup,” Kelseyville head coach Donelle McCallister said. “We are running a 5-1 with Julian (Armas) setting all the way around. While we won the match, we still need to work on the technical aspect of volleyball.”
Armas had 28 assists. Other team leaders were Otoniel Rivas with 28 digs and Jayden Teabo with 12 kills.
“Last night, Ukiah sent a lot of shots and tips over, which should be easy to handle,” McCallister said. “Our boys need to learn defensive patterns and transition to defense. When that happens, we will be stronger at the net.”
Kelseyville won a share of the North Central League I championship a year ago in its first of existence.
“It’s all about experience and volleyball knowledge in our second year of volleyball,” McCallister said. “We have a mixture of veterans and rookies. The boys work hard in the gym but need to continue picking up the experience that other teams are managing to get.”
