Youth wrestling team takes home 14 first-place medals in Ukiah

UKIAH >> Colin Crow, Kailaya Philpot and Kameron Kolston of the Gladiators Wrestling Club each won a pair of first-place medals Sunday during the Enter the Den tournament in Ukiah.

Twenty-five Gladiators brought home 14 first-place medals, 10 seconds and five thirds.

Crow went 6-0 with six pins in two different weight classes while improving his season record to 60-18. Philpot also won both of the divisions she was entered in, going 5-0 with four pins and one technical fall all while earning her 50th win of the season (50-18). Kolston wrestled in the fourth/fifth-grade division as well as the JV middle school division, winning both brackets with a combined record of 5-0 with four pins and one technical fall. He is 32-10 on the season.

Also earning firsts were Jameson Philpot, who went 3-0 with one pin and improving to 37-29 on the season. Maverick Paminto competed in two divisions, taking one first and one second with a combined record of 4-1 with three pins. He is 66-17 on the season. Brantley Paminto also double-bracketed with one first and one second, going 4-1 with one pin and one technical fall, and upping his season record to 59-9. Julian Cruz competed in two divisions as well, taking a first and a third with a 3-2 record with two pins. He’s 10-9 on the season. Thomas Philpot won his division with a 2-0 record and one pin, improving to 44-18 on the season.

Other firsts went to Brayden Paminto, who went 3-0 with two pins (42-24 season record); to Brodie McDaniel with a 3-0 record and three pins in the middle school girls division (22-7); and to Joseph Szupello, who went 2-0 in the JV division with two pins (12-7).

Other second-place medals went to Logun Whittle, William Villa, Kaitlyn Crow, John Young, Laylony Barocio, who was second in two separate divisions, Tyler Luciano and Alyssa Hopkins.

Other thirds went to Villa, Jason Nehring, Sebastian James and Adin Griffen.
