LAKEPORT >> Sophia Perez filled up the stats sheet while helping lead the Middletown Broncos B girls basketball team to a 26-21 over Obsidian Middle School in the championship game of the Lake County Junior High Athletic League postseason tournament on Saturday in Lakeport.

Perez finished with six points, seven rebounds and six steals as the Broncos capped a perfect regular-season in league play (10-0) with back-to-back postseason tournament wins. Elizabeth Ahlmann added four points while Remmi Harbison had four points and four steals.

“Scoring was spready out throughout the team with nine players scoring tonight,” Middletown head coach Erika Galvan said. “Our strength this season has been our defense. I’m very proud of how well this team worked together as a unit. They are a great group of girls with a ton of potential ahead of them.”

Middletown reached the championship game with a 25-8 win over Terrace Middle School in Friday’s semifinal round. Perez again led the way with nine points and 12 steals. Katera Gotz, Rylee Gabbert, Carlee Williams and Sophia Azevedo added four points apiece.

“Julia Caviness played great defense and kept the pressure on the Vikings,” Galvan said.
