Maverick Paminto, Thomas Philpot both win two weight divisions

WILLITS >> The Gladiator Wrestling Club held off host Willits to win the team championship Sunday during the fifth annual Bob Colvig Tournament at Willits High School.
With 383.5 points, the Gladiators added another first-place team trophy to their 2024-25 collection while Willits finished second with 377 points. CORE Wrestling placed sixth with 116 points and Middletown Wrestling Club was seventh with 89.5 among other Lake County teams in the field.
The Gladiators took home all kinds of individual honors, including firsts by:
- Colin Crow, who went 5-1 with four pins and one technical. He also placed second in another weight class while earning his 50th win of the season. He’s 54-17 this season.
- Maverick Paminto, who went 5-0 with four pins while winning two weight classes. He’s 59-16 on the season.
- Tyler Luciano, who went 2-0 with two pins, improved to 14-4.
- Thomas Philpot, who went 7-0 with five pins and one technical fall, won two weight divisions on the day, including the middle school division as a fifth-grader. He’s 36-16 on the season.
- Brayden Paminto, who went 5-1 with four pins. He also added a second in another division. He is 36-22 on the season.
- Brantley Paminto, who went 4-1 with four pins. He also added a second in another division. He is 55-6 on the season.
- Logun Whittle, who pinned all of his opponents, going 3-0. He’s 36-7 on the season.
- Michael Garner, who went 3-0 with one pin. He is 13-7 on the season.
- Kameron Colston, who went 3-0 with one pin. He is 24-9 this season.
- Adin Griffen, who went 3-0 with two pins, improved to 11-19 on the season.
- Brodie McDaniel, who went 2-0 with a technical fall. She is 6-2 on the season.
Besides Colin Crow, Brantley Paminto and Brayden Paminto, other second-place finishes went to Jameson Philpot, Elijah Tucker, Alyssa Hopkins, Lilly Oakes, Gary Oakes, Neveah Barocio, Brantley Paminto, Kailaya Philpot, who had two seconds on the day, Hayden Janssen and Sebastian James.
Placing third was Kaitlyn Crow in two divisions. Other thirds went to Riley Garner, Julian Cruz, Jaxden Maitland, William Villa and Cameryn Gamble-Ray.
Fourth-place finishers were Jaxden Maitland in two divisions, Anastasia Garcia, William Villa, Elijah Tucker, Brian Cosigua, Kylie Dugger, Branson Whittle and Fernando Calvillo.
The Gladiators return to action Saturday at Foothill High School in Palo Cedro.
