Bohan, Keyes, Williams, Jones led squad to ninth-place finish

SACRAMENTO >> The HEAT club volleyball team from Middletown participated in the 14 girls division of the Redwood Rumble on Saturday and Sunday, winning four of its five matches.
The HEAT placed nine out of 23 teams after winning its pool on Saturday with a 3-0 record, and then coming back Sunday to go 1-1 in gold bracket play.
In pool play, the HEAT beat FPVC (Cassidy) 25-13, 25-6, Empire (Jeanie and Stan) 25-9, 25-7, and Marin Ice 25-10, 16-25, 15-7.
In gold bracket play, the HEAT lost to FPVC (Jill) 25-16, 25-14, then beat FPVC (Cassidy) 25-5, 19-25, 15-6.
“For our first tournament of the season, these girls did very well,” HEAT head coach Erika Galvan said.
Top players for the HEAT were Kaia Bohan with 21 aces, 15 digs and nine assists, Gabby Keyes with 26 assists, 11 aces and eight digs, Grace Williams with 13 aces and 12 kills, and Emma Jones with nine kills and eight aces.
The HEAT squad returns to the court next month.
