Brantley Paminto claims pair of first-place medals, improves to 22-1 on the season

SUTTER >> Brantley Paminto collected two more first-place medals while going 7-0 on the day with four pins and one technical fall for the Gladiators Wrestling Club on Saturday during the Built in the Buttes tournament at Sutter Union High School.
Eighteen Gladiators made the trip to Sutter, making their presence felt with a tournament-best 38 pins, 10 technical falls and 65 match wins.
In addition to the two first-place medals won by Brantley Paminto, who improved to 22-1 on the season, Maverick Paminto, John Young, Brayden Paminto and Logun Whitte also finished first in their respective weight classes. Whittle is now 14-2 on the season.
Brayden Philpot, Branson Whittle, Logun Whittle and Kailaya Philpot also qualified for the Tournament of Champions on March 8. The TOC is considered the most competitive junior high tournament in California.
Maverick Paminto and Brayden Paminto both went 3-0 with three pins in the weight divisions they won while Young went 2-0 with one pin and one technical fall. It was his first tournament win of the season. Logun Whittle won all four of his matches Saturday, two by pin and two by technical fall.
Kaitlyn Crown won a pair of second-place medals, going a combined 6-2 on the day. Other second-place medals went to Brayden Paminto, Branson Whittle, Elijah Tucker, Colin Crow, Olyver Dugger and Jameson Philpot.
Kailaya Philpot finished third in two separate weight classes. Other thirds went to Colin Crow, Maverick Paminto and Jameson Philpot.
Finishing fourth were Tucker, Kameron Colston, Fredrick Jeffries, John Young, Kylie Dugger and Mattix Paminto.
