Kelseyville offensive line earns co-MVP award; Teabo is MVP on defense

LAKE COUNTY >> The entire Kelseyville High School offensive line of seniors Alexis Martinez, Landon Johnson and Adam Astrup, junior Milez Gambria and sophomore Elijah Watkins has been honored as the co-most valuable player on the 2024 edition of the All-North Central League I football team as selected by the league’s coaches.

Kelseyville won the undisputed NCL I title this season with a 8-0 record, and the first-place Knights were well rewarded by the league’s coaches. The other half of the co-MVP award on offense went to senior splitback Kolbe Bufardeci of the runner-up Willits Wolverines (7-1).

The defensive most valuable player award went to Kelseyville senior Jayden Teabo.

Also honored from Kelseyville were seniors Kyle Watkins, Daniel Anderson Reyes, River Calhoun and Brock Barrick, and junior Michael DeJohn. Martinez, Astrup and Johnson were honored on both offense and defense.

Other Lake County players earning first-team honors were senior Adrian Truby and junior Ryken Villanueva of Clear Lake (2-6); senior Vincent Wilson of Lower Lake (1-7); seniors Jonathan Barnes and Kaiwinabax Duncan-Monlo, and junior Billy Stillman of Upper Lake (3-5); and seniors Jake Pullman and Kelby Shook, junior Trenton Griffith, and freshman Tyler Galamay of Middletown (4-4).

Other teams

From Fort Bragg (5-3), All-League honors went to seniors Gabe Valenzuela, Leonardo Garcia, Alex Nicholson, Emmanuel Arenas and junior Ross Knapp. Honored from St. Helena (6-2) were seniors Sam Beck, Russell Wilms, Troy Taber, and juniors Ben Brakesman, Dean Sommer and Jhony Covarrubias. From Willits, All-Leaguers were senior Chase Tonne, juniors Lincoln Nass, Corey Rockey, Porter Garman, Donald Glenn and Ryan Carter, and sophomore Damian Reiter.

Honorable mentions

Each team also received one honorable mention. Those players were junior AJ Bruch of Clear Lake, senior Joe Bernardi of Cloverdale, senior Sebastian Soria of Fort Bragg, senior Jeffery Ballard of Kelseyville, senior Zakai Vilmenay of Lower Lake, junior Hayden Xavier of Middletown, junior Adam Herdell of St. Helena, sophomore Jubilee Faalelea of Upper Lake, and freshman Zain Marshall of Willits.
