Trojans match their two victories from all of of last season

BOONVILLE >> It took the Lower Lake Trojans the first two games of their 2025-26 schedule to match their victory total from last season as they beat Round Valley 66-21 and Anderson Valley 56-48 in the opening rounds of the Redwood Classic on Wednesday at Boonville.
The Trojans went 2-24 in 2024-25 but return many of their top players from last season’s ultra-young squad.
Lower Lake (2-0) spread around the scoring against Round Valley as Raijhier McKneely and Germaine Cephus led the way with eight points apiece followed by Brody Shields and Noah Hakala with seven each, and Adrian Negrete, Danny Hammer and Zackquez Sanders, all with six.
Hammer and Benson each had two 3-pointers and Shield, Hakala and Sander one.
In the second-round game against tournament host Anderson Valley, Hakala led the way with 19 points, with one 3-pointer, and Negrete added 11 points with three 3-pointers. Kaimelo Connolly finished with seven points and a 3-pointer while Benson added six points, all on 3-pointers, and Sanders had six with one 3-pointer.
The Trojans host an opponent to be determined on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The tournament runs through Saturday.
Jay Jakubowski takes over as head coach this season. Tony Farrington coached the Trojans last season.
