Galvan, Nunez power Broncos in win over Terrace School

LAKE COUNTY >> The Middletown Middle School and Obsidian Middle School volleyball A teams notched wins during Wednesday action.

Middletown def. Terrace School

At Middletown, opposite hitter Trinity Galvan served up 13 points, including five aces, and had two assists to power the Middletown Broncos past the Terrace School Vikings of Lakeport, 25-12, 25-16.

“She had amazing defensive saves all night,” Middletown head coach Vanessa Davis said.

Jaquelin Nunez, the Broncos’ middle hitter, logged a team best five kills on nine swings to along with one ace.

“Great reactions to the ball,” Davis said of Nunez. “Overall my most improved (player) so far for the season.”

Ella Delzompo, an outside hitter, added one kill, eight services points, six of which were aces. Other team leaders were middle hitter Grace Williams with six points and five aces, and outside hitter Emma Davis with four kills.

“And great serve receive passing that kept us alive,” Davis said.

“Overall, Terrace was a great serving team that challenged us in serve receive,” Davis said. “We fought back and made great passes all night. Our serves were on fire, only collecting four errors in total.”

Middletown is home Monday to take on Lucerne.

Obsidian def. Lucerne

At Lower Lake, the Obsidian Bears swept Lucerne 25-18, 25-22.

“This was a great team win,” Obsidian head coach Claire Alderson said. “Everybody on the team played and contributed to it.”

Obsidian improved to 1-1.

No individual statistics were reported.

The Bears hit the road Monday to Mountain Vista Middle School in Kelseyville.
