Lalo Serrato powers Lancers, Xavier Yebra scores twice for Broncos

LAKEPORT >> Building a 3-0 halftime lead, the Mountain Vista Middle School co-ed soccer team rolled past the Terrace Vikings 5-1 in league action Wednesday afternoon in Lakeport.
Lalo Serrato scored twice and assisted on another goal as Mountain Vista improved to 2-0 in league play and 7-3 overall.
“We were hoping he would get a hat trick,” Mountain Vista head coach Oscar Lopez said of Serrato. “He did a good job.”
Erik Gomez added a goal and an assist in the win. Bob White and Inteus Lopez scored Mountain Vista’s first two goals. Anthony Arias had an assist.
Lopez credited Arias and Inteus Lopez with strong play in the midfield.
“We were on the attack most of the game,” Lopez said.
Trailing 5-0 in the second half, Terrace scored on a penalty kick to avoid the shutout.
Mountain Vista takes next week off before returning to action Monday, April 13 at home against Middletown.
In other co-ed soccer action Wednesday:
Middletown 5, Obsidian 1
At Middletown, Xavier Yebra scored twice while Andres Yebra, Sophia Perez and Anaya Kilstrom all had goals in Middletown’s league win over the Obsidian Bears.
Kilstrom and Isaac Delgado also had assists for Middletown (2-0, 3-0).
Obsidian scored first before Middletown answered with three straight goals to take a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Bears had a chance to cut into that halftime lead early in the second half after the Broncos were called for hand ball in the penalty area, setting up a penalty kick. Middletown keeper Ruben Rincon blocked the shot.
Middletown is off next week for spring break. The Broncos return to action Monday, April 13 in Kelseyville against Mountain Vista at 4:30 p.m.
