Varsity, junior varsity squads score straight-set victories in non-league action

POINT ARENA >> Aniya Jauregui’s eight kills and two aces along with seven kills and three aces from Ashlynn Cruz helped propel the Clear Lake High School varsity volleyball team to a 25-7, 25-22, 25-17 non-league win over Point Arena on Thursday in Point Arena.
Avery Fiske added six kills, Jazmine Wiebusch finished with 24 assists and Kiara Hopkins had four aces for the Cardinals (4-10). Paisley Himenes contributed six digs and three aces.
“The girls have been putting in the work and it showed,” Clear Lake head coach Izzy Short said.
Clear Lake won the junior varsity match 25-20, 27-25.
Clear Lake opens its North Central League I North schedule Tuesday in Kelseyville. JV action begins at 5 p.m.
