Davis, Galvan, Totorica, Brand step up in Broncos’ straight-set victory

UKIAH >> Middletown Middle School’s A volleyball team won its first road match of the season, beating Pomolita Middle School 25-16, 25-11 in non-league action at Ukiah.
“The team played amazing team volleyball and brought a spark of excitement to the court,” Middletown head coach Niki Emberson said. “There were some long rallies, crazy saves, and our Broncos never gave up on a single ball. It was exciting to watch.”
Lily Day contributed a team-best five kills as well as an ace in the win while Camila Galvan led the Broncos with five aces. Dallas Totorica added three kills and three aces.
Emberson also praised the “exceptional passing” of Stella Brand, who finished with five assists and two aces.
Middletown A improved to 2-0.
In the B match, Pomolita defeated Middletown 25-21, 24-26, 15-8.
“Our young players are still learning formations and trying to develop that chemistry,” Emberson said. “Overall, we just made too many communication errors and suffered from 17 missed serves.”
Team leaders were Madison Lewis with five aces and two kills, Abby Tribby with five aces and two kills, and Aleah Kilstrom with four assists and two aces.
Middletown B is 1-1.
Middletown’s A and B teams open their league schedule Tuesday against Obsidian Middle School in Clearlake.
