The game matched the top two seeds – No. 1 Middletown against No. 2 Obsidian.
“An amazing, intense game as always with Obsidian,” Middletown head coach Ernest Pulido said. “Hats of to coach Andres (Hernandez of Obsidian) and his team.”
Obsidian took a 1-0 lead into halftime and the score remained unchanged until Middletown’s Eli Pulido sent a through ball to striker Yebra for a game-tying goal. Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the teams played two 10-minute overtime periods, each scoring a goal, to force a penalty-kick shootout, which the Broncos went on to win.

“What a final,” Obsidian head coach Andres Hernandez said. “Two full-time halve to extra time to penalties. Words cannot explain how proud I am of these kids. They ae truly student-athletes. Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way, but it was one for the books.”
