Both teams advanced to the finals with semifinal-round victories Wednesday. No. 1 seed Middletown defeated No. 4 Terrace 6-1 while No. 2 Obsidian held off No. 3 Mountain Vista 3-2 at Lower Lake.

Terrace plays at Kelseyville for third place Saturday at 10 a.m. in Kelseyville.

Middletown 6, Terrace 1

At Middletown, Isaac Delgado, Roe Kilstrom, Andres Yebra, Eli Pulido, Xavier Yebra and Sophia Perez all scored goals for the top-seeded Broncos in their win over Terrace.

Pulido, Delgado and Andres Yebra also recorded assists.

Holding a 2-1 lead right before halftime, Middletown picked up a momentum-shifting goal from Andres Yebra.

“Andres’ goal right before halftime really sparked the team’s energy,” Middletown head coach Ernest Pulido said. “He caught the keeper off his line and took the chance from about 35 yards out and chipped it in.”

Terrace scoring was not reported.

Obsidian 3, Mountain Vista 2

At Lower Lake, though the Mountain Vista Lancers spent most of the game on the attack, they couldn’t catch the Obsidian Bears.

“We couldn’t get that final one,” Mountain Vista head coach Oscar Lopez said. “We had several opportunities to tie it or take the lead.”

Obsidian held a 2-1 lead at the half. The Bears scored first in the second half to go up 3-1 before Mountain Vista closed to 3-2 with four minutes left.

“They had opportunities and took advantage,” Lopez said of the Bears. “We didn’t.”

Marco Soto scored twice and also assisted on Adrian Perez’s goal for Obsidian. Evelin Vargas assisted on one of Soto’s goals.

“Great game,” Obsidian head coach Andres Hernandez said. “Very intense game once the whistle blew. The team really showed what they were about. I’m very proud of the whole team.”
