Willits claims first North golf win

Two-time defending CMC champions top the field at Tayman Park in Healdsburg

HEALDSBURG >> Two-time Coastal Mountain Conference North champion Willits logged its first match win of the season, topping the field Wednesday at the par-70 Tayman Park course in Healdsburg.

Led by Cole Lane’s 4-over-par 74, the Wolverines finished with 378 strokes to Fort Bragg’s 397 and Clear Lake’s 426. Upper Lake and Lower Lake had incomplete teams (fewer than four golfers).

Willits moved up to second place in the CMC North standings through the first five matches with 21 points. Fort Bragg leads the pack with 27, Clear Lake is third with 20 and Upper Lake has 19.

No one was close to Lane in individual scoring. Clear Lake’s Francis Rivera and Fort Bragg’s Dylan Comen had rounds of 90 and Willits’ Nikolai Ritchley had 97.

CMC North teams meet again Wednesday at Adams Springs at 11 a.m.
