Team finishes second at The Gatekeeper tournament in Willits

WILLITS >> The Middletown Wrestling Club attended a pair of tournaments in Willits over the weekend, seven team members participating in the Queen of the Redwoods on Sunday and 16 in action at The Gatekeeper on Saturday.
“The team did good this weekend,” Middletown Wrestling Club coach Ari Fanucchi said. “We are very proud of how we wrestled and stayed aggressive the whole weekend, adding to the reason why we are also bringing home the second-place team trophy for Th Gatekeeper.
At the Queen of the Redwoods, Shiloh Fourie won the 6-and-under 40-pound class while also placing second in the 6-and-under 45-pound division. Tammy Gardiner came in third in the middle school girls 105-pound division while Madalynn Thompson finished third in the middle school girls 150-pound class.
At The Gatekeeper on Saturday, winning weight class championships were Kameron Colston in the middle school boys 126-pound division, Ryder Fanucchi in the 8-and-under 49-pound division, Jaxx Salter in the 10-and-under 67-pound division, Carson Mackey in the 10-and-under 100-pound division, and Andres Yebra in the middle school boys 96-pound division.
Second-place medals went to Cary Glasgow Jr. in the middle school boys 80-pound division, to Zethanie Kohl in the middle school girls 85-pound division, Brookelyn Mackey in the 12-and-under 98-pound division, and to Thompson in the middle school girls 155-pound division.
Thirds went to Logan Parks in the 6-and-under 43-pound division, to Lawrence Kohl in the 12-and-under 86-pound division, and to Troy Johnston in the middle school boys 126-pound division.
