FRESNO >> Zethanie Kohl of the Middletown Wrestling Club placed eighth in the 87-pound novice girls bracket during the Kids Folkstyle State Championships on Saturday in Fresno.

“Zethanie came to us as a first-year wrestler and truly puts in the work as well as behind the scenes,” head coach Dom Fanucchi said of Kohl, who overcame a concussion midway through the season to return to the mats. “We are proud of her for placing eighth out her 15-man bracket.”

Kohl was among a handful of Middletown Wrestling Club members to compete in the Folkstyle Championships but the only one to reach the medal podium. Other participants were Ryder Fanucchi, Hunter Fanucchi, Jaxx Salter, Carson Mackey, Lawrence Kohl, Bradley Parks and Troy Johnston.

“I am excited for all my wrestlers that showed up and competed as well,” Fanucchi said.
