Cardinals pull into tie for first atop CMC North standings

BROOKTRAILS >> Clear Lake High School’s golf team beat Fort Bragg by 12 strokes to win a Coastal Mountain Conference North match Wednesday at Brooktrails Golf Course near Willits.
As a result of Clear Lake’s victory and Fort Bragg’s second-place finish, the CMC North now has three teams atop the standings with 10 points each. Clear Lake finished with 323 (the combined totals of its four lowest individual rounds) to Fort Bragg’s 335, Upper Lake’s 351 and Willits’ 365. Clear Lake, Fort Bragg and Upper Lake all share the top spot followed by Willits, the two-time defending North champion, with six points.
Francis Rivera of Clear Lake carded the day’s low round of 75 followed by Jaden Nunez of Upper Lake at 77. A trio of golfers – Clear Lake’s Logan Percaccio, Fort Bragg’s Ash Hebden and Willits’ Nikolai Ritchley – all had 81.
For the first-place Cardinals, Lee Butcher (83) and Levi Ewing (84) also contributed to the team win. For the third-place Cougars, who won last week’s match at Buckingham Golf and Country Club, Gage Faalelea had 86, Landen Robinson 88 and Blake Sneed 100.
The third of eight scheduled North matches takes place Wednesday at Hidden Valley Lake Golf and Country Club at 11:30 a.m.
