Pair of Lake County players help club volleyball squad go 8-0 at Roseville tournament

ROSEVILLE >> The Empire 15 National club volleyball team featuring a pair of Lake County athletes, Emma Davis of Middletown High School and Cassidy Hanson of Mountain Vista Middle School, went 8-0 in the WCVA League Tournament for players ages 15-18 Saturday and Sunday in Roseville.
As a result of winning all eight of their matches, Empire 15 National is now ranked eighth overall in the 15-18 gold division team standings.
Davis, an outside hitter, and Hanson an opposite hitter and setter, helped Empire 15 go 4-0 in bracket play as it beat Club Solano 18, NorCal Supreme 17, Gallant 18 and NNJ 18 on Saturday. In the gold division Sunday, Empire 15 beat NorCal Supreme 18, Synergy Force 16 and NNJ 17 to reach the gold division championship match. Empire 15 won a three-set battle in the finals, including 15-13 in a back-and-forth third set.
Empire 15 is back in action this coming weekend at the Lake Tahoe Invitational before heading to the RedRockRave National Qualifier later this month in Las Vegas.
Empire 15 is only seven places away from Empire 17 National, the No. 1-ranked team in the gold division. Empire 17 National features another Lake County standout, Riley Hanson of Kelseyville High School. Riley, an opposite hitter and setter, is Cassidy’s older sister.
