SACRAMENTO >> Upper Lake High School alum Maddy Young set a single-game playoff assists record for Sacramento City College during a 96-79 victory over Napa Valley College on Wednesday night in a Northern Region first-round game at Sacramento City College.

Young dished out 17 assists to go along with nine rebounds, four steals and two points. Earlier this month she broke the national community college single-game assists record with 23 against Diablo Valley College.

A 2023 Upper Lake graduate, Young led the Cougars to an undefeated league championship, a section runner-up finish and a berth in the NorCal quarterfinals during her senior season when the Cougars finished 29-3, one of the best single-season records in Lake County history.

Sacramento City College (14-15) advances to the next round of Northern California playoffs Saturday when it visits Laney College in Oakland at 7 p.m.
