LAKE COUNTY >> Kelseyville High School senior AJ Wurm and Middletown High School sophomore Izzi Hoogendoorn are the co-MVPs on the 2026 All-North Central League I girls basketball team as selected by a vote of the league’s coaches.

Wurm barely came off the court for the Knights (20-6) this season owing to Kelseyville’s small roster size (only seven players most of the 2025-26 campaign}. She helped the Knights finish tied for second place in the league standings, one game behind Hoogendoorn’s Mustangs. Kelseyville reached the North Coast Section Division 3 quarterfinals as well, beating a Division 1 school, Antioch, in the opening round, before falling to a Division 2 school, Mission San Jose, in the quarterfinals.

Along the way, Wurm scored her 1,000th career point, finishing her four-year varsity run with 1,116.

Much like Wurm, Middletown’s success on the court this season, including a third straight league title, ran through the talented sophomore. As Hoogendoorn went, so did the Mustangs. With several varsity players returning next season and elements of a championship junior varsity team moving up to the varsity, Hoogendoorn and the Mustangs should be a force in the NCL I for years to come.

Middletown finished 12-2 in the league standings and 18-8 overall.

First team

Three Lake County players also pulled down All-League first-team honors. Mati Mateer of Kelseyville and Harley Holley of Middletown, both seniors, and junior Irianna Milano of Lower Lake joined the St. Helena tandem of junior Ella Lindquist and sophomore Tessa Barrett on the first team.

Second team

Named to the All-League second team were Middletown senior Autumn Clark, Kelseyville senior Liz Erlandson, Lower Lake senior Jamiya Lee-Ayers, Upper Lake junior Alyssa John and St. Helena senior Olive Filippini.

Honorable mentions

Accorded honorable mention status on the All-League team were Middletown junior Jordyn Harbison, Kelseyville sophomore Aubree Sperber, Clear Lake senior Faith McIntire, Fort Bragg senior Natalya Lopez, Cloverdale senior Kylee Vlasak and St. Helen junior Lilly Grimes.

Selections

Middletown, Kelseyville and St. Helena each had four players honored overall followed by Lower Lake with two and Upper Lake, Clear Lake, Fort Bragg and Cloverdale with one apiece.
