Club volleyball team manages just 2-2 record at Roseville tournament

ROSEVILLE >> Coming off its best effort of the season the previous weekend, the Never Say Die 16s club volleyball team struggled in all areas Sunday during a Northern California Volleyball Association Power League tournament in Roseville.

The 16s finished 2-2.

“Definitely not our best play of the season,” Never Say Die head coach Marci Psalmonds said. “We struggled the whole day with serve receive and communication We were out of position a lot and it caused a few problems. I am proud of them for pushing through and ending with a strong win.”

The 16s beat Marin Slate 25-19, 25-21 before falling to Encore 16 Red 25-15, 25-23 and Twisters 16-Teri 25-15, 25-14. They bounced back with a 25-19, 25-22 win over SAND 16-Black in their final match.

Moana Chamberlin led the team with 28 kills, five aces and 26 digs. Liv Bushey added 19 kills and 26 digs, Jordyn Wurm finished with nine kills and 30 digs, and Grace Peterson had 44 digs.

“These girls have a lot of tenacity,” Psalmonds said. “They are highly competitive and take it to heart on every loss, which is just going to make them better down the road.”

The 16s return to action March 8 in San Mateo.
