Team sweeps pool play before finishing third in gold bracket

REDDING >> After sweeping their pool in the morning, the Konocti Bay 14s made it as far as the semifinals in the gold bracket during the North State tournament series last weekend in Redding, leading to a third-place finish for the club volleyball team out of a 17-team field.
The Konocti 14s beat Momentum 14 Purple, the NSVA Jays and Pursuit 14 Grace in straight sets in pool play.
Advancing to the gold bracket, the Konocti 14s beat Adrenaline 14 Green before falling in a hard-fought match to Momentum 14 White.
The Konocti Bay 14s are made up of 10 players, ages 11-14, representing five schools in and Lake and Mendocino counties.
“To be in the top eight this early in the season is a tribute to the strength of our team,” head coach Becky Knox said. “We saw the potential they have, the support for each other, as well as their coachability and positive attitude.”
Team members are Ally Abreu, Ruby Westbrook, Khloe Cook, Annabelle Badar, Maylee Antoni, Allyson Leary, Madison Meza, Eliana Lopez, Hazel Hanson and Karen Martinez.
