Cardinals play first home match of season against Ferndale Wildcats

LAKEPORT >> Behind 13 kills from Faith McIntire, 11 kills from Lindee Bingham and 12 digs from Atiana Patino, the Clear Lake High School varsity volleyball team beat the Ferndale Wildcats 25-22, 25-15, 25-19 in non-league action Monday in Lakeport.
“I’m really proud of the way volleyball team came together and took the win in our first home game,” Clear Lake head coach Izzy Bonilla said. “They encouraged each other, communicated well and showed strong teamwork both on and off the court. It was a great way to start the season, and I’m excited to watch this group continue to grow and improve together.”
McIntire and Paisley Himenes had four aces apiece for the Cardinals, who were coming off a third-place finish on Friday at the annual Cougar Invitational in Upper Lake.
Clear Lake also won the junior varsity match, beating Ferndale 25-17, 25-21.
“Our JV team is finding their rhythm and working well together,” Bonilla said. “They finished strong. I’m excited to ee their progress this season.”
Clear Lake plays a non-league match Tuesday in Napa. JV action begins at 5 p.m.
