Lancers beat Middletown Middle School 25-13 in championship game

KELSEYVILLE >> After beating Upper Lake 44-16 in semifinal-round action Friday, the Mountain Vista Middle School A girls basketball team dominated Middletown Middle School 25-13 in the championship game Saturday of the Lake County Junior High Athletic League postseason tournament at Mountain Vista Middle School in Kelseyville.
Mountain Vista also beat Middletown in the B championship game held earlier in the day.
The Mountain Vista and Middletown A teams played for the fourth time this season, with the Broncos holding a 2-1 edge entering play. Leading only 9-8 at halftime, the Lancers began to pull away in the third quarter, upping their lead to nine points entering the final period.
“This was a defensive game in which our girls communicated great and worked together to stop a really tough opponent,” Mountain Vista head coach Shaun Robinson said.
Jodeci Meadows led the Lancers with eight points while Samaya Ellis and Kaylee Robinson each had five.
Middletown scoring was not reported.
In their win over Upper Lake in the semifinals Friday, Meadows led the way with 14 points and Ellis was right behind her with 13. The Lancers had an 8-0 lead after one minute and never looked back. They led 18-3 after one quarter and 31-6 at halftime.
Mountain Vista’s roster features Meadows, Robinson, Samaya Ellis, Mezzy Ellis, Zeda Garcia, Audrey Panella, Gianna Cruz, Aubrey Mullen, Monica Martinez, Amelia Darling and Andrea Valadez.The team’s coaches are Robinson and Allison Panella.
