KELSEYVILLE >> Kelseyville’s public school volleyball teams hit for the cycle during the fall sports season, winning everything in sight.

Everything.

Not only did the high school’s varsity and junior varsity teams claim undisputed North Central League I championships, but the Mountain Vista Middle School A and B squad took top honors in the Lake County Junior High Athletic League postseason tournament.

In a case of girl power personified, Kelseyville’s teams ended up with the top prize despite encountering some obstacles along the way.

The Kelseyville High School varsity squad opened league play 5-0 before dropping back-to-back road contests to two league title contenders. They answered by winning their final seven matches, six by three-set sweeps, and closed league play by beating the same two teams that had defeated them earlier. They beat a Division 1 team, San Leandro, in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division 3 playoffs after being moved up from Division 4 by the pairings committee.

The varsity Knights, led by the likes of Nyejzniya Krohn, Cali Schnabl and Olivia Hommer, finished 17-7 overall. Other team members were Madeline Borghesani, Briana Davis, Riley Hanson, Savannah Helm, Ashlyn Klein, Matisyn Mateer, Bella Patti, Victoria Rodriguez, Ashlyn Wurm and Jordyn Wurm.

Kelseyville High’s junior varsity team won its first nine league matches before finally losing, but the Knights reeled off four straight victories to close out league play for a 13-1 record. Grace Hobbs, Brooklyn Young and Aubree Sperber were among the team’s standout performers. Other team members were Olivia Bushley, Ashley Cox, Isabella Farfan Boyles, Josie Keithly, Liberty Lewis, Meghan Renfro, Morgan Rogers, Grace Peterson and Gemma Tanti.

Mountain Vista’s A team went 9-1 in league and 19-2 overall. Team members were Olivia Arredondo, Paelynn Beall, Kaia Bohan, Madison Byrne, Lilly Hamel, Cassidy Hanson, Gabriella Keyes, Keira Mick, Brooke Poff, Mali Rico and Quinn Seifer.

Mountain Vista’s B team finished 6-2 in league and 10-4 overall. Team members were Maylee Antoni, Anabelle Badar, Emma Escarcega, Kate Hobbs, Amelia Kennedy, Allyson Leary, Monica Martinez, Nya Martinez, Karen Martinez Raygoza, Maddi Meza, Aubrey Mullen, Lilly Rico, Kaitlyn Tarin and Marnie West.

All four teams credited the support of their coaches, Kelseyville Unified School District administration and staff, parents and families, and the Kelseyville community for their extremely successful season.
