Upper Lake Middle School tops Terrace 53-42 in A boys basketball game

LAKEPORT >> In a physical game during which 33 fouls were called, the Upper Lake Wildcats emerged with a 53-42 win over the Terrace School Vikings in middle school boys basketball action Monday in Lakeport.
“Terrace has a strong team, and this was exactly the kind of tough game we expected going in,” Upper Lake A head coach Dani Paige Gudmundson said “Both teams made each other work for every basket. It was an aggressive game on both ends of the floor.
Terrace was called for 17 personal fouls and Upper Lake 16.
Cayden Beecher led the Wildcats with 23 points, including a 5-for-6 night at the free-throw line, while also adding four assists and six steals, and Bennett Guardino finished with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, Desmond Solomon had nine points and eight rebounds, and Jose Delgado Beecher chipped in seven points, three rebounds and three steals.
“Overall, I’m very proud of the boys for pushing through a tough, physical game and continuing to work hard without hanging their heads,” Gudmundson said. “They stayed composed and played with effort from start to finish.”
Upper Lake travels to Middletown on Wednesday.
