12-and-under club basketball team wins all four of its games

ROSEVILLE >> The Lake County Eagles 12-and-under club basketball team went 4-0 to win the gold bracket over the weekend during tournament action at the Hardwood Palace in Roseville.
The Eagles beat the Bidwell Pioneers 33-21 and Eagles Club Gold 30-8 on Saturday to reach Sunday’s playoffs. The Eagles defeated Grind 11-under Black 36-24 and AIBA White 32, 31-21, to wrap up the tournament title.
“Our defense is what is winning us ballgames right now,” Eagles coach Mason Smith said. “The intensity, grit and rebounding on that side of the ball is insane right now.”
During Sunday’s action, Asten Wienke led the way against Grind Black with 10 points and Jace Johnson had seven. Isaiah Reyes pulled down 10 rebounds. In the win over AIBA White, the Eagles used an 11-1 run to pull away. Reyes led the team with seven points and nine rebounds while Charlie Mulanda added six points.
During Saturday’s action, Reyes led the Eagles with 11 points in their win over Eagles Club Gold. Reyes and Johnson each had six rebounds while Waylon Murphy had four points. In the win over the Bidwell Pioneers, Mulando led the Eagles with eight points while Reyes had seven points and a team-best 12 rebounds. William Pisaro blocked three shots, and Johnson and Jayden Griffith each scored four points.
Other team members are Greyson Wienke and Darius Dubose.
