CLEARLAKE >> Upper Lake Middle School’s A boys basketball team improved to 11-0 on the season with a 69-24 win Wednesday night against the Obsidian Middle School Bears in Clearlake.

“For the first time all season, every player who stepped on the floor put something on the stat sheet,” Upper Lake head coach Dani Paige Gudmundson said. “Not one blank line. We’ve had games where everyone played, but not everyone recorded a stat. Last night every single player made an impact. That’s growth, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Xielan Florez led the way with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Cayden Beecher had 14 points, three rebounds and three steals. Also scoring in double digits were Cam Allison with 10 points and Dezmond Solomon with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jose Delgado Beecher and Gage Schramm added seven points apiece while Bennett Guardino had five points and 13 rebounds.

“Our focus stays the same; discipline, consistency and continuing to play our game,” Gudmundson said.

Upper Lake plays Eagle Peak in a non-league game Thursday. On Monday, Upper Lake hosts Middletown Middle School on eighth-grade night for the Wildcats.

In the B game, Obsidian beat Upper Lake 61-38 behind 19 points from Leroy Hopkins and a 10-point, 20-rebound double-double from Darwin Penson. George Mendoza added 10 points.

Obsidian B improved to 6-3.
