Eagles close out first half of conference play with road victory against Contra Costa

SAN PABLO >> Mendocino College volleyball jumped back into the win column Wednesday night, beating Contra Costa College 25-20, 25-14, 17-25, 25-20 in Bay Valley Conference action in San Pablo.

The Eagles (3-3) snapped a three-match conference losing streak while completing the first half of their BVC schedule.

Cora Holley (Middletown) led the Eagles with 17 kills while Makayla Mace (Middletown) added 10 kills and 12 digs. Setter Jayden Paulich (Kelseyville) finished with 36 assists, 10 digs, two kills and two aces. Libero Cali Schnabl (Kelseyville) had 11 digs.

Other Mendocino leaders were Brooke Benson (Lower Lake) with six kills and one block, Ava Diaz (Ukiah) with eight digs and one ace, Emily Gersalia (Clear Lake) with six digs, Briana Sanchez (Ukiah) with four kills, three blocks and four digs, Kayden Paullus (Willits) with three digs, and Rylie King (Analy) with two kills and two digs. Holley also had eight digs and two blocks.

Mendocino College opens the second half of its BVC schedule at home Friday against Marin College at 6 p.m.
