Offense, defense contribute points to final score

SONOMA >> Kameron Richardson rushed for 110 yards to anchor the offense and Brian Patrick’s 40-yard interception return for a touchdown led the defense as the Lower Lake junior varsity youth football team beat Sonoma 21-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday in Sonoma.

LaDontea Seller rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown while Thomas Philpot scored on a 2-yard run. Fredrick Jeffries added an extra point.

In addition to Patrick’s pick-six interception, Lower Lake’s defense added two more points on a safety credited to Tucker Heywood, who led the team in tackles. Other tackle leaders were Jeffries, Richardson, Patrick, Philpot, Brantley Paminto, Marco Ochoa, David Herr, AJ Algere, and Zachary Anderson.

Lower Lake improved to 6-2 with its win while Sonoma fell to 5-3. The Trojans are back on the road next Saturday when they play Northshore (2-6) at 5:30 p.m. in Upper Lake.
