Mendocino College loses to Napa

Eagles fall to 2-2 in Bay Valley Conference standings

NAPA >> Cora Holley and Makayla Mace put up double-digit kill totals, but the Mendocino College women’s volleyball team ended up on the wrong end of a 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22 Bay Valley Conference decision to Napa College on Friday night in Napa.

The loss, Mendocino’s second straight in conference play, dropped the Eagles to 2-2 in the BVC standings.

Mace (Middletown) also had 19 digs for Mendocino while Holley (Middletown) had three digs, two blocks and one ace. Setter Jayden Paulich (Kelseyville) finished with 40 assists as well as eight digs, three blocks and two aces. Cali Schnabl (Kelseyville) added 12 digs and one ace while Brooke Benson (Lower Lake) and Briana Sanchez (Ukiah) had five kill apiece. Benson also blocked five shots and Sanchez two.

Other Mendocino College leaders were Rylie King (Analy) with five kills and eight digs, Emily Gersalia (Clear Lake) with seven digs, and Ava Diaz (Ukiah) with eight digs and three aces.

The Eagles host undefeated BVC leader Solano (3-0) on Friday at 6 p.m.
