Chiefs use big game from Austin Aiken to defeat Cloverdale 14-12

KELSEYVILLE >> Austin Aiken broke loose for 165 yards, two touchdowns and two conversions Saturday as the Kelseyville Chiefs held off Cloverdale 14-12 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League pee wee action at Kelseyville High School.

Other Kelseyville rushing leaders were Josiah Wilson with 21 yards and Brantlee LeFrancois with 17.

Bryce Fontana had one reception for 13 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Aiken had six tackles and two assists, Ryker Vanderwall finished with four tackles and three assists, Wilson and Fontana each had two tackles and an interception, Jace McLoud added three tackles and one sack, and Eagle Feather Pasalo and Leo Woita had two tackles apiece. Also for the Chiefs, Navarro Pruitt had two assists while Andrew Denham intercepted a pass.

“The boys are playing good,” Kelseyville coach Joe Aiken said. “Cloverdale came to play. We have to control some penalties, and we will have more on the scoreboard as a result of that. We have come a long way as a program, and I am excited to see what the future holds for some of the players.”

Kelseyville (3-3) travels to Willits (3-3) on Saturday.

“We have a tough game this weekend in Willits,” Aiken said. “They’re solid, but we are on the hunt for a playoff berth, and I believe we are a better team.”
