Fury go 0-4 at weekend tourney

Under-16 traveling softball team is home Saturday to play two

SACRAMENTO >> The Lake County Fury under-16 traveling softball team lost 10-3 to the Stockton Lightning in the first round of the silver bracket playoff Sunday during tournament action in Sacramento.

Though his team went 0-4 during weekend tournament, Fury head coach Kris Bal said, “We fought hard, the other girls are just more experienced and older.”

The Fury’s defense committed five errors as the team dropped to 1-7 on the season.

“Their pitcher was strong,” Bal adding of the opposing pitcher.

The Fury, in its first year of existence, hosts its first home game Saturday when it plays the Napa Crushers in a doubleheader at the Lower Lake High School softball field. First pitch is 9:30 a.m. The teams will take a 30-minute break following the first game. The second game is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. The admission fee is $5 and all proceeds benefit Fury softball. Food and drink will be available.
