KELSEYVILLE >> Adrian Guzman’s two first-half goals stood up as the Obsidian Bears upset No. 1-seeded Mountain Vista 2-0 to claim the Lake County Junior High Athletic League co-ed soccer title Saturday in Kelseyville.

Mountain Vista, the No. 1 seed, beat No. 4 Terrace School to reach the finals while No. 2 Obsidian knocked off No. 3 Middletown.

Yael Viveros Lopez assisted on Guzman’s first goal. Guzman’s second goal was unassisted.

“The team played to their strengths in a hard-fought game against a good Mountain Vista team,” Obsidian head coach Andres Hernandez said. “They really showed the class and quality of their play and in the end, they walked away with a well-deserved victory. I can’t be prouder of each and every player in what was a total display of what it means to represent your school as a student athlete.”

In the third-place game that took place prior to the championship game, Middletown beat Terrace 2-1 in overtime. Isaac Delgado scored both of the Broncos’ goals.
