Cougars wrap up regular season with conference meet at Lower Lake High School

LOWER LAKE >> Upper Lake High School’s track and field teams finished up their regular season taking part in a Coastal Mountain Conference meet at Lower Lake High School.
Also talking part were the host Trojans, Clear Lake, Fort Bragg, Technology, Credo, Laytonville and Anderson Valley.
Nineteen of Upper Lake’s 23 team members have qualified in one or more events for the CMC Championships on May 7 in St. Helena.
“The four that didn’t will be looking to help us in relays,” Upper Lake head coach Thomas Santana said.
During Wednesday’s action in Lower Lake, Angelina Bendure finished second in the shotput with a personal-best throw of 30 feet, and Jack Demunck placed third in the varsity boys shotput with a toss of 36 feet.
Looking ahead to next week’s CMC Championships in St. Helena, Autumn Clark has qualified in five different events. Among other Cougars, Aiden Dancer has qualified in the 100, 400 and 800 and will be the team’s starter in the 4×400 relay while Taelor Stipp, Dylan Aragon and Mikel Compton have all qualified in the 100 and 200 and are starters for the 4×100 relay team.
Also for Upper Lake, Demunck will compete in the shotput and discus, Bendure in the shotput and discus, Jerod Rosales in the 100 and discus, Leonardo Jimenez in the 1,600 and 3,200, Saphira Hughes in the 100 and long jump, Kiri Casperson in the 100 and 200, Kaden Coltharp in the high jump, Sofia Cruz in the 300 hurdles, Jakob Estrada in the 200, and Aimee Schaefers and Alexis Peregrina in the 100.
For the Upper Lake junior varsity girls, Dalyla Beck has qualified in the shotput, and Zach Brezinger has qualified in the 200 and 400 for the JV boys.
