Six earn the right to advance to CHSRA state finals in June at Bishop

CORNING >> Six Lake County rodeo stars have qualified for the California High School Rodeo Association state finals in Bishop after posting solid performances this past weekend at the District 2 finals in Corning.

The state finals take place June 8-15.

Casey Huston, a senior at Kelseyville High School, won the steer wrestling championship while three other county standouts placed as high as second in different events.

Besides Huston, qualifying for the state finals in June were:

  • Laela Stewart (Kelseyville High senior) – Stewart placed second in pole bending.
  • Jadyn Owens (Middletown High freshman) – Owens finished second in goat tying and sixth in pole bending.
  • Josie Keithly (Kelseyville High School sophomore) – Keithly placed second in barrel racing, third in goat tying, fourth in pole bending and sixth in breakaway roping.
  • Stella Aleman (Lower Lake High freshman) – Aleman took third in pole bending, fourth in barrels, winner of Rookie All-Around Cowgirl honors.
  • Dominico Galamay (Middletown High senior) – Galamay was fifth in bull riding.
