LAKEPORT >> Just four days after being dismissed as Kelseyville High School’s varsity boys basketball coach despite a successful four-season run with the Knights, Oscar Lopez was back on the court doing what he loves best.

Lopez coached Kelseyville’s All-Star fifth- and sixth-graders, including his son Anthony, during a postseason tournament at Clear Lake High School in Lakeport.

“It was a fun experience to coach these boys,” Lopez said.

The Kelseyville All-Stars beat Coyote Valley 44-32 in their first game behind 18 points from son Anthony Lopez, eight from Yiska Lopez and six from Avaro Serafin.

“That was a fun game,” Lopez said. “We were down by 10 points twice, down by one at halftime and still down at the end of the third quarter.”

Kelseyville took control in the fourth quarter, outscoring Coyote Valley 14-2.

Yiska Lopez hits two 3-pointers in the win and Anthony Lopez one.

In their final game, the Kelseyville All-Stars fell 28-20 to Westshore and head coach Jeremy Hopkins.

“The boys played hard,” Lopez said. “Jeremy’s team did a great job forcing a lot of turnovers.”

Anthony Lopez led Kelseyville with 14 points and was named to the All-Tournament team.
