Mountain Vista places fourth in eighth-grade boys basketball tournament

KELSEYVILLE >> Rincon Valley defeated McKinleyville 66-34 to win the John Berry “Road to Crescent City” basketball tournament for eighth-grade teams Saturday in Kelseyville.

In other final-round games, St. Bernard Blue beat Mountain Vista 44-29 in the third-place game, St. Bernard White defeated Pomolita 42-35 in the consolation championship game, and Lloyd Johnson beat Middletown 31-15 in the seventh-place game

Aden Semere of Rincon Valley Middle School was named tournament MVP. All-Tourney honors went to Aarnav Mansukhani and JJ Gutierrez-Albavera of Rincon Valley, Breyden Brock and Aidan Irving of McKinleyville, Victor Biwole of St. Bernard Blue, Inteus Lopez of Mountain Vista, Grady Crosswhite of St. Bernard White, Legend Mora of Pomolita Middle School, Danny Mondragon of Lloyd Johnson, and Charlie Ochs of Middletown Middle School.

In the Shootout contest, Justin Seeley of Rincon Valley came in first, Shane Stark of St. Bernard Academy Blue finished second, and Lopez of Mountain Vista Middle School was third.
