Alley Oakes, Brantley Painto, Kailaya Philpot finish first at Rumble in Reno

RENO >> Alley Oakes, Brantley Paminto and Kailaya Philpot of the Gladiators Wrestling Club won championship belts during the Rumble in Reno last weekend in Reno.
Twenty-two Gladiators were among 2,500 wrestlers representing 29 states at the competition. The Gladiators placed ninth out of 195 teams and were third out of 89 teams in the rookie division.
Oakes, Paminto and Philpot were among 20 team members who medaled. Oakes double-bracketed, taking a first (and championship belt) and a second with a 4-1 overall record that included three pins and a technical fall, improving her season record 29-12 with 19 pins.
Paminto went 3-0 with three pins and is 65-9 on the season with 53 pins.
Philpot double-bracketed, going 5-2 during the tournament with four pins, improving to 57-24 with 50 pins.
Besides Oakes’ second-place finish, Colin Crow, Fernando Calvillo, Kaitlyn Crow, Thomas Philpot and Maverick Paminto also claimed second-place medals.
Third-place medals went to John Young, Elijah Tucker and Kailaya Philpot. Taking fourth was Joseph Szupello, Kameron Colston and William Villa Jr. came in fifth, and Gary Oakes, Sebatian James, Lilly Oakes, Logun Whittle and Neveah Barocio were sixth.
The Gladiators continue their season this coming weekend in Willits, then return home for the Gladiator Brawl on March 6.
